Are You A Team Player?

Why are they asking?

Every restaurant requires the efforts of a team working together, with everyone doing their part. They are asking you this question because they want to find out if you can do your part and are comfortable being part of a team instead of working on your own.

What’s the ideal answer?

The interviewer wants to hear that you are a team player, and you have no problem doing your part to make each shift run as smoothly as possible. Don’t be afraid to give them an example of how you have successfully been part of a team in the past. It doesn’t have to be an example from a job. You can use an example from school or a social activity.

How Much Do You Know About Our Company?

Why are they asking?

They are asking you this question because they want to know how much you care about the job and the company, and to find out if you did some research before going into the interview. The goal for the company is to hire people who really want to work for them, and who care about their work.

What’s the ideal answer?

The interviewer wants to know that you did at least a little bit of research about Jimmy John’s. Instead of saying that you know they make sandwiches, check out their website and find about their menu and delivery fees, plus read their “about us” section.

Also, if you have never eaten there before, go grab a sandwich before the interview so you can experience the store as a customer. It will give you a little insight into company culture, and you can talk about that at your interview.

Then, when they ask you this question, you can tell the interviewer that you know they have a variety of sandwiches with different meats, breads, and cheeses. You also know that employees always greet every customer when they walk through the door, and they have freaky fast delivery.

What Is Your Availability?

Why are they asking?

They want to know if the hours that you are available to work match with their needs. If you can only work on weekends, and they need someone to work during the week, you won’t be a good fit.

What’s the ideal answer?

Be honest with them and let them know when you are available to work. If there are days that you absolutely can’t work, let them know. Also let them know how many hours you can work each week, and that you will show up for every scheduled shift.
