How Old Do You Have to be to Work at QuikTrip?
Everyone in the QT family "possesses a certain intangible quality." They also possess the many other qualities that QT expects in their employees -- including dependability and work ethic. But most importantly, employees have the QT culture. This is what attracts everyone who works with the company.
The employees are the reason people love the QT experience. They work hard, have fun, and genuinely love providing great service. In return, QT gives them great pay, great benefits, and all the fountain drinks they can consume.
QuikTrip store employees are held to very high standards. As the face of the company and brand, store employees are expected to take advantage of their opportunity to make customers smile and provide them with service that exceeds expectations.
Serving QT customers is the most important job in the company, and their focus is on taking care of the store teams. That caring shows, as QuikTrip has placed high on Fortune Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For for fifteen years.
To get an entry-level job at QuikTrip as a store clerk or assistant manager, you must be at least 16 years old. Applicants for QT Distribution Warehouse/Transportation/Bakery teams must have a high school diploma or GED.
Teen Jobs at QuikTrip and Age Requirements
Store Clerk (Hourly)
QT store employees are responsible for creating the fast, friendly, convenient QT culture. This is a standard that the customers have grown to expect, and it’s something the company will never compromise. QuikTrip part-time jobs aren’t like other convenience store positions. They’re harder, with much higher performance expectations. However, they’re also more rewarding.
Providing excellent customer service is the most important job in the entire QuikTrip organization. That’s why they stress to the part-time employees the importance of the position they hold.
QT is a busy place, and it’s important that employees not only maintain store merchandise and cleanliness, but also provide customers the service and experience they expect. As a member of the team that consists of both part-time and full-time members, part-time hours are flexible enough to fit employee schedules and rigid enough to accommodate peak sales periods.
New employees receive at least 46 hours of training on the store and kitchen responsibilities. New employees working in Travel Centers will receive additional fuel desk training.
Part-time job applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Assistant Manager (Hourly)
QuikTrip holds their employees to high standards, and this especially applies to the managers. The entry level Assistant Managers are in charge of the store during their shift. They are tasked with, among many other things, the supervision of part-time employees.
QT staffs five full-time manager positions in stores. Because this level of QT culture can’t be hired off the street, and the company's rigid standards and performance expectations make running stores a learned skill, three of the five manager positions are promoted from within.
The two entry level manager positions, Relief and Night Assistants, are promoted from part-time ranks or are hired off the street. They are eligible for promotion, which hinges on performance, to the Second Assistant Manager position. Second Assistant Managers are eligible for promotion to First Assistant Managers, who are then eligible for promotion to Store Manager.
To work as an Assistant Manager at QuikTrip, you must be at least 16 years old.

QT operates distribution centers in the Kansas City, Phoenix, Atlanta, Tulsa and Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan areas. The warehouses store and ship approximately 70% of the products sold in QT stores.
QT warehouse and transportation team members order and receive a large percentage of store merchandise, then deliver these orders to stores several times a week. QT bakery team members prepare and deliver fresh food daily to each of the QT stores.
Bakery production is responsible for the quality production of food items and preparing fresh food that is sold to QT stores daily. QT distributions team members are promoted from within, begin in entry-level positions and minimum starting pay varies by region.
Most shifts begin at 5:00 a.m., and weekends and holidays are included in the work schedule.
QT transportation team members are trained by an internal QT Driver Initial Trainer. Transportation team members deliver warehouse and bakery products to QT stores several times a week.

What Should You Wear to a Job Interview at QuikTrip?
When you show up for your interview at QuikTrip, you will want to be dressed in business casual attire. Consider something like a buttoned-down shirt with nice slacks or jeans and dress shoes.
QuikTrip is picky about the appearance of the employees who wait on their customers. That means no beards, goatees, or visible tattoos, body piercing, or tongue posts while on duty. So, you should keep that in mind when you are going in for your interview.
QuikTrip Interview Questions
The possible questions in a job interview are endless, and it always depends on the interviewer. But, there are some common questions that they do often ask. QuikTrip job interviews are notoriously thorough and intense. They take things very seriously, but the process is relatively smooth and friendly.
We should also warn you that you will be expected to do math, so be prepared! For example, they will ask you "If the price is 13.23 and the customer gives you $15, what is that customer's change?"
Why should we hire you?
Why are they asking?
If a manager asks you this question, they are trying to get you to sell yourself. QuikTrip is all about their store employees, the culture, and customer service. They are wanting to find out how well you can communicate, while being positive and professional.
You may not have any previous work experience, but you can still have skills like communication, time-management, money-handling, etc...
What’s the ideal answer?
Know your strengths. If you get asked this question, tell them how you will benefit their business. They want to hear that you have good verbal communication skills, have a friendly and upbeat demeanor, and can give good customer service.
Tell them that you are a reliable worker who will show up to work on time for every scheduled shift. If you are interested in a long-term career with the company, definitely let them know because the pay is competitive, and there are a lot of opportunities for advancement. If you want to make a good living, working your way up at QuikTrip is a fantastic plan.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Why are they asking?
If they ask you this question, they are trying to find out what job skills you can bring to the position, and what you need to work on.
Applicants are usually able to communicate their strengths, but when it comes to weaknesses, some think it’s best to say they don’t have any or can’t think of any. Don’t do this—that answer is a red flag.
What’s the ideal answer?
The hiring manager wants to know that you can accept feedback and develop your own skills. Give one or two strengths with examples to go with them. Then list one or two weaknesses, and describe how you’re working on them.
A good answer for a weakness would be something like, “I’ve been told I speak too quickly, so I’ve been practicing slowing down when talking with customers.”
Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer and what was the outcome?
Why are they asking?
When it comes to life in customer service, you will come across your share of upset or difficult customers. If you have prior work experience, they might ask you this question to see how you dealt with the situation because it does come up, and you need to handle it in the best way possible.
What’s the ideal answer?
If you don’t have any experiences with difficult customers, that’s okay. If you do, tell them the story (if you handled it well, and it had a positive outcome). If the situation ended up with you screaming and yelling or getting fired, that’s not a story you want to share.
They want to hear that you did your best to make the difficult customer happy. Or, if you couldn’t fix the problem, you notified a manager and had them help you.
