To get an entry-level job at FedEx (Federal Express) as a Package Handler, Package Recovery Agent, Warehouse Worker, or Retail Customer Service Associate, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Teenagers are not eligible for the FedEx driver position because the minimum age is 21.

Package Handler  (Hourly)

A Package Handler position at FedEx is fast paced and physical warehouse work, with duties that include loading, unloading, and sorting packages of various sizes and weights. This job is a workout, with constant lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, scanning, and placing packages, as well as physical bending, twisting, kneeling, etc. 

Part time FedEx Ground employees work one shift a day; while full time FedEx Ground employees work two shifts. Shift lengths vary based on package volume – generally part time employees work between 3 and 6 hours a day. Full time employees can expect to work between 6 and 10 hours. Overtime is paid if you work more than 40 hours in a week.

You must be at least 18 years old -- and have your high school diploma or GED -- to work as a Package Handler at FedEx.

Package Recovery Agent  (Hourly)

A FedEx Package Recovery Agent efficiently processes various shipment/material types in a safe and appropriate manner through effective handling, sorting, scanning, documentation, packaging, storing, shipping and disposal methods.  Recovery Agents also properly document shipment records.

This job requires general knowledge of computers -- along with the ability to effectively operate warehouse computers and scanning equipment -- and understand how they relate to the inventory process.  Must be able to properly handle and process different shipment types based upon contents and labeling.  Good organizational and communication skills are required, and you must be detail oriented. 

To work as a Package Recovery Agent at FedEx, you must be at least 18 years old and have your high school diploma or GED.

Warehouse Worker  (Hourly)

A FedEx Warehouse Worker is responsible for the accurate receiving, moving, storing, and shipping of product to meet company standards of safety, security and productivity. This position is responsible for product safety, quality and legality.  Job duties include:

  • Accurately selecting products according to the customer’s order specifications. 
  • Load and unload products onto or from delivery vehicles, pallets, etc.
  • Pulling and preparing products for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of products are loaded and shipped. 
  • Perform picking/packing duties in an efficient manner
  • Utilize operation Radio Frequency (RF) terminals for various functions including picking, quality, inventory, shipping, etc.
  • Determine the appropriate destination of the product by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers, and sort packages accordingly.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. 
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee accuracy of inventory. 
  • Participate in physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Check or count products for accuracy and or damage/ infestation.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.

To be a Warehouse Worker at FedEx, you must be at least 18 years old and have your high school diploma or GED.

Retail Customer Service Associate  (Hourly)

A FedEx Retail Customer Service Associate (aka Store Consultant) is expected to consistently deliver a positive customer experience to all customers, utilizing consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives and provide solutions.

This position is for a customer service focused team member who is knowledgeable in all areas of the Store’s business, including print, signs & graphics, and shipping. They are responsible for taking orders, coordinating activities in the Store, providing pricing and product information, and recommending appropriate FedEx Office products and services. 

The Store Consultant operates and maintains a wide variety of equipment, moves boxes and equipment, stocks materials, manages the production queue and output, manages complex projects, manages retail supply, and completes assigned tasks based on priority.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Provides expertise in printing, signs and graphics and shipping product lines and can recommend appropriate FedEx Office products and services to customers
  • Provides an outstanding customer service experience by using consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives, and find solutions to meet customer needs
  • Ensures all customer problems are resolved quickly and to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Takes complex customer orders using order systems and provides accurate pricing information
  • Assembles parcels and prepares goods for shipping by wrapping items in insulation, inserting items into shipping containers, weighing packages, and affixing labels to parcels
  • Sets up and operates printing, binding, and other related equipment using customer supplied original media and documents
  • Maintains a safe, clean and orderly retail Store
  • Ensures confidentiality of customer data and careful handling of documents, media, and packages
  • Processes financial transactions using a Point of Sale terminal (POS),including handling cash and making change
  • Cleans, repairs, and stocks all retail store printing and shipping equipment and supplies to provide optimal performance and availability
  • Stays current on retail Store merchandising materials and ensures proper display of all retail area product and signage
  • Takes preemptive action to prevent errors and waste
  • Completes required financial paperwork and may assist with financial reporting including daily sales, close-outs and bank deposits

Package Recovery Agent (Hourly)

The minimum starting pay for the Package Recovery Agent position at FedEx is $16.50. Your hourly rate may be more depending on location and shifts worked. You will also get overtime pay if you choose to work more than 40 hours per week.
